Beloved Aussie lolly Allen’s Spearmint Leaves set to make a return to supermarket shelves

An iconic Aussie lolly that's both equally loved and loathed is set to make a big comeback! Confectionary brand Allen's is planning to re-release Spearmint Leaves in August after they quietly disappeared from store shelves.

Allen’s has announced the return of Spearmint Leaves in August this year after they quietly left supermarket shelves in 2015.

The news was confirmed by Nestlé Oceania head of confectionery marketing Melanie Chen to the Herald Sun on Friday.

“We know mint fans love the sweet chewy tang of Spearmint Leaves, as well as being a favourite decoration among bakers,” she said.

In other good news for lolly lovers, Sherbies will return to their own bag.

“We also have some extra sweet, sweet news,” Chen added.

“Allen’s Sherbies are now back in their own bag. The first orange-chew bite with its pocket of sherbet is ready and waiting for chewy lolly lovers.”

Spearmint Leaves and Green Frogs were ripped from shelves in 2015, amid poor sales results, Nestle corporate affairs manager Margaret Stuart said at the time.

“Red Frogs were outselling Green Frogs, 10 to one,” Stuart said.

“Once they were popular, but over the years they have dropped off,” she added.
