Mr Parkhill was inspired to build the property after watching a scene from the 1998 film, Meet Joe Black.
The scene in question involved Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins descending upon a lakeside estate in a helicopter.
“I was absolutely in awe of that snippet, the way the helicopter came across the water, and it looked so majestic and amazing, and I thought ‘I could probably do that’,” Mr Parkhill told the Australian Financial Review.
“Unfortunately for me, my mind went from ‘I could probably do that, I’m going to do that, and I did do it’.”
With sprawling views across Lake Connewarre, the property has played host to multiple celebrity events including Geelong footballer Joel Selwood’s proposal to wife Brit Davis and Rebecca Judd’s baby shower.
Pop star Justin Bieber booked a stay at the venue, but experienced difficulty getting to the property after the council refused to approve his helicopter use. In an interview with the Australian Financial Review, Mr Parkhill refused to confirm or deny whether the stay went ahead or not.
Campbell Point House has been listed on the market multiple times over the years and despite its high profile failed to find a buyer.
Listing agent at Raine and Horne Land Victoria, Kevin Paghdar, said while interest was there, he anticipated it would take some time to achieve the “top dollar” the owners were chasing.
“It’s a very good property,” Mr Paghdar said.
“It has a beautiful waterfront view with five houses on the property.”
The five houses consist of the main mansion, the stables and cottage, and a pool and lake house.
Luxury facilities include an infinity swimming pool, red cedar sauna, billiards room, grass tennis court and helipad.
The property also features a private jetty and 250 metres of lakefrontage.
