Aussie travellers warned over dangerous waves along Bali coast
Aussie travellers have been warned about a danger along one of the most popular coastal stretches in Bali.
Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency issued an urgent warning on Thursday over extremely high waves that could reach up to four metres.
“The high waves are expected to occur from December 5 to 8 in the southern part of the Bali Strait, Badung Strait, northern part of the Lombok Strait, southern part of the Lombok Strait, and also the southern waters of Bali,” the agency’s official forecaster said.

“Make sure to always monitor information from BMKG, especially regarding early warnings of extreme weather or climate.”
The warning comes almost two months after a Perth man died after getting dragged out to sea while saving a distressed swimmer.
Craig Laidley, 56, jumped into the water to save a fellow tourist on October 16 but was swept out to sea as they reached the safety of rocks.
His heartbroken family said his bravery and determination in that moment were a testament to his character.
“It is no surprise to us that he put his life on the line to help another in need,” loved ones said in a statement.
“His bravery and determination are a testament to his character.
“A man who brought kindness, strength, light and laughter to those around him.
“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to every person who has offered their assistance during this tragic event.”
