A three-year-old boy is fighting for life after being found unresponsive in a backyard swimming pool in Sydney’s southwest.

Emergency services were called to a Moorebank home just after 6.30pm on Tuesday when the child was discovered.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attempted to resuscitate him before he was taken to Prince of Wales Children’s Hospital.

NSW Police initially reported the boy had died, however, this is incorrect. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

“Police attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” NSW Police said.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
