AFL Draft Recap: West Coast Eagles add two more as Fremantle Dockers go for mature recruit

AFL DRAFT: Which young hopefuls will realise their AFL dream on night two of the national draft?
After an entertaining first round, we’re back for round two - and beyond.
There are still plenty of West Australians on the table after West Perth’s Jacob Farrow was the only WA product taken, picked up by Essendon in the top 10.
West Coast added No.1 pick Willem Duursma and Cooper Duff-Tytler with their first two selections before swooping on Josh Lindsay with their later pick.
Adam Sweid was the Dockers’ sole selection in the first round, after Essendon opted not to match the bid for their academy product.
See which West Aussies remain up for grabs in The West Australian’s AFL Draft Hub and follow all the action in our live blog below.
Who will join Jacob Farrow as 2025 draftee from WA?
The West Perth defender was recruited by the Bombers with pick 10 at Marvel Stadium on Wednesday night — the first player taken from Western Australia.
Farrow’s rise is remarkable, having initially been overlooked for the State’s under-18s program last summer to become an All-Australian and first-round draftee.
He spoke to The West Australian’s Mitchell Woodcock in Melbourne last night.

Will his Falcons teammate Sam Swadling join him at the elite level?
While we wait...
As we wait for night two to officially get underway, we take a look at how West Coast draft haul (so far) can help fast-track their rebuild.
Who’s up next?
North Melbourne hold the first selection on night two, starting with pick 26.
It’s then over to the Western Bulldogs (27) and Carlton (28) before West Coast’s next pick.
The Eagles receieved the second-round selection in the trade with Brisbane for premiership defender Brandon Starcevich.
Melbourne, Richmond, Collingwood and Geelong are next, before West Coast are up again with the pick they recieved in the trade with Carlton for Campbell Chesser.
Sydney and Essendon are then set to round out round two....
But expect the unexpected (and the expected bids on more father-son and academy picks!).
Meet the newest Docker
Fremantle made just one selection on night one of the AFL Draft, taking Victorian Adam Sweid.
A member of Essendon’s next generation academy, Sweid was overlooked by the Bombers with their early picks before the club opted not to match the bid from the Dockers.
Meet the newest Eagle
West Coast snared three selections on the first night of the AFL Draft, including top five picks Willem Duursma (No.1) and Cooper Duff-Tytler (No..4).
Josh Lindsay was the final first-round selection, taken with the 19th overall selection.
The West Australian spoke to him on Thursday. Here’s what he said.
Hello!
And welcome to the second night of the AFL Draft.
There is still plenty of action to unfold with round two and beyond tonight.
West Coast have two selections in the second round, currently 29 and 34.
Fremantle have picks 39 or 57, if they choose to use them.
Plenty of West Aussie remain up for grabs, with only Jacob Farrow picked up by Essendon last night.
That list includes Sam Swadling, Fred Rodriguez, Cody Curtin, Leon Kickett and Blake Kelly, as well as a stacked list of NGA products and father-son prospect Charlie Banfield.
Tylah Williams is tipped to be the next to go, linked to West Coast’s next-gen academy alongside Koby Evans and Wes Walley, while Toby Whan and Ryda Luke remain on the table as Freo’s NGA products.
