The key stats
Collingwood has 35 inside 50s to 20 and despite Freo dominating hit-outs the clearances are even.
The Dockers have also committed 38 turnovers with most coming across half back such has been the pressure they’re under.
Luke Ryan is standing up the best with three tackles and 15 disposals.
Half Time Collingwood 3.5 (23) Fremantle 2.2 (14)
The siren mercifully rings to bring an end to that half as Shai Bolton sends a shot sailing into the stands and out on the full.
Collingwood, though, won’t mind as they lead a grinding affair just having a little more composure with ball in hand.
Daicos has been very good with a game high 17 tocuhes.
It’s going to be a tough day for Freo forwards but Luke Jackson has to try and get into this game, especially with Darcy likely out with just four touches in that half.
Caleb Serong shares his thoughts with Abbey Holmes.
“It’s just a hard-fought game, we’ve just got to stick at it,” he says.
“We just need to hold on to the ball a bit longer, I think we’re trying to kick and call a bit too quickly.”
It’s bucketing down
It’s not going to help what has already been a poor game.
You can hear the pelting on the broadcast, and this is grim.
McStay makes it in a row
Another turnover at half back from Freo and Daicos delivers a great pass as Dan McStay is too strong for Luke Ryan.
He converts around the corner to make it two in a row.
COL 3.5 (23) FRE 2.2 (14)
Sean Darcy in trouble
He cops high contact as he had his head down to pick up the ball.
He wins the free but he’s very shakey on his legs and he’s coming off the ground.
His day could be done.
Collingwood in front as De Goey out
The Pies’ mission has been made harder with Jordan De Goey limping into the rooms and looking very unhappy.
But the Pies cut the ball off at half forward and Ned Long cops a high tackle on the 50 for Scerri.
He converts to get the Pies in front with confirmation De Goey’s day is don due to HIA.
Bolton puts the Dockers in front
Josh Treacy beats Billy Frampton on the wing to keep the ball alive long enough for reinforcements to arrive.
The Dockers finally get the overlap going and Bolton has oodles of space to run into and he produces a nice finish on the run from 40m.
FRE 2.2 (14) COL 2.1 (8)
We’re all tied up
Andrew Brayshaw hits the post aftter being held off the ball but bangs it straight into the post.
Collingwood miss the kick out of defence and are immediately back under pressure but they manage to repel the repeat attack.
End of Q1 Collingwood 1.2 (8) Fremantle 1.1 (7)
That was not the most inspiring quarter of footy you will watch this season.
The conditions are slippery but the decision-making of both sides and skills at times have been poor.
The Pies should be further in front all things considered but have managed just one goal from 18 entries.
But it is the first time the Dockers have lost a first quarter this season.
The Pies have a slight edge in clearances but they have barely a target forward of the ball when they go forward.
Luke Ryan has seen plenty of ball in defence with eight touches, but no one has been able to make much of an impact thus far.
Switkowski gets the Dockers fired up
Collingwood have another barrage of forward entries but again their final kick is just so poor and not the the advantage of their forwards.
The Dockers finally break out of the Pies’ web and get their chain going up the far wing and eventually get it to Switta who makes no mistake.
It’s 15 inside 50s to five but Freo are only down by a point.
