Here we go...

The mid-season draft is just moments away, with West Coast holding the first selection.

The Eagles have also held the No.1 pick the past three seasons, taking Jack Hutchinson, Jai Culley (now at Melbourne) and Ryan Maric.

6 v 18-month contracts

Ahead of the AFL mid-season rookie draft, players can choose put either a six-month or 18-month contract on their head.

It gives certain players security for longer, especially if they’re moving interstate or have family or work committments to consider.

For example: Subiaco forward Archer May has so much interest that he has put an 18-month bounty on his head.

However, some players opt for shorter contracts to give themselves the best chance of realising their AFL dream.
