We’re almost at the halfway point of the trade period - and there are plenty of prospective deals that need to be done.

Some of the biggest names who could potentially shift clubs remain in limbo, with Christian Petracca, Zach Merrett, Clayton Oliver, Charlie Curnow, Rowan Marshall all waiting to have their fate determined.

And from a WA point of view - the Eagles may be looking to get a trade done for Richmond’s Tylar Young, as well as considering their options for wantaway Campbell Chesser.

Crows share their side of the Cal Ah Chee story

General Manager of List Management Justin Reid joined Trade Radio.

“It’s a work in progress, we’ve had words with Dom at Brisbane and his manager,” he says.

“We’ve been consistent that our first pick is off the table, but we do value Cal highly, and so do Brisbane.

“We’ve offered our future second-round pick for him; that’s been on the table since the early days.

“His versatility ahead of the ball and like a Dan Curtin, can add some flexibility to the game.”

Collingwood re-sign WA duo

Roan Steele and Will Hayes will be staying in the black and white after the pair signed two-year extensions.

Eagles and Richmond close to a deal on Tylar Young

His agent, Tom McConville was hopeful the deal could potentially get done today.

“It’s getting to the point now where it’s getting close,” he says on Trade Radio.

“He’s getting married on the weekend, so it would be nice to get that done before then, but we’ll let West Coast and Richmond work it out

“There were familiar faces at the Eagles, but ultimately it was a football decision for a fresh challenge and opportunity.

“I’m really confident he’ll be a real key player for West Coast.”

Lions to hold Deven Robertson through the Trade period

Lions list manager Dom Ambrogio speaks on his work so far having been involved in some big trades so far.

Here’s a breakdown on his main points.

On Oscar Allen

“You’re constantly talking to agents along the journey,” he says on Trade Radio.

“We knew we needed to cover those areas when Daniher retired, and it’s something that evolved slowly.

On Brandon Starcevich

“We’re disappointed Brandon is leaving, but there’s always been a bit of a pull for him to WA.

“We were pretty happy with the proposal. He was a pretty unique player and filled a number of unique roles for us.

On Ah Chee and Adelaide

“That’s slow going; the situation is not one of our choosing. We’ve always wanted to retain Cal and made a number of offers to him.”

“I’m not going to publicly negotiate Cal’s contract, and we’ll have conversations with Adelaide to see if they can produce something compelling for us.

“It needs to be something that suits our situation.

“We’ve found it a bit difficult to understand why he’s looking at options elsewhere. If it was our situation to dictate he’d certainly stay at the Brisbane Lions.

On Deven Robertson

“He’s been a great contributor to our footy club he’s just been stuck in a situation where he’s been stuck behind other player in his role.”

“We’ll hold him to the end of the trade period and see what comes but we’ll get that done one way or another.”

Alex Witherden speaks on his role in the Oscar Allen trade

The former Lion and Eagle says he helped the Lions and Allen get in contact.

“I had senior people at the Lion reach out in October last year to ask for Oscar Allen’s number and a little character reference as to what he was like,” he says on Trade Radio.

“Oscar then reached out to me and asked me what living in Brisbane and Chris Fagan was like.

“Living in Perth, it can be such a footy bubble, and Allen as captain and not playing as well as he liked, a fresh chance was appealing.”

Mihocek trade approved

Oliver formally requests GWS trade

His manager Nick Gieschen has confirmed the troubled Demon has made his choice late last night.

“Clayton Oliver has confirmed his desire to be traded to GWS. GWS will now work with Melbourne to strike a deal between the clubs.”

Leek Aleer fallout to continue

Perhaps some of the biggest news to come through yesterday was a trade that didn’t happen with St Kilda remarkably withdrawing interest on Leek Aleer despite courting him over the last two years.

His manager, Dylan Smith slammed the Saints this morning.

“This came as an absolute shock,” Smith said.

“They’ve been whining and dining for him for two years. They loved where he was at and finally turned his head.

“They got him in, had the meetings and convinced him that the Saints was where he should be. It was a good fit. It was a career move and a four-year [contract] playing alongside Jack Silvagni and others.

“Today they backflipped because they don’t have the picks for him … They couldn’t get a future second-rounder for him.

“Leek is not happy and to be honest, livid with the situation. Clubs have rung me and said, ‘It’s a disgrace, what have they done?’ Nobody from the Saints has spoken to him.”

GWS footy boss also shared his thoughts.

“This wasn’t a difficult trade negotiation, that is just fact. I am loathe to make comment on what other clubs are doing,” he said.

“Leek is absolutely shattered. He is more than welcome to play at the Giants next year but he is shock at the moment.

“Our thoughts are with him, what happened yesterday we don’t know exactly what went down but it doesn’t impact us, it’s not like we had that pick lined up to anything else. Our concern and care is with Leek.”

Mihocek set to become a Demon

The premiership Pies deal is all but ticked off with Collingwood trading the premiership forward to Melbourne, along with pick 71 for pick 61 and Melbourne’s future third-round selection.

An update on Campbell Chesser

While Curnow dominated the questioning Davies also spoke on Campbell Chesser with the young Eagle requesting a trade to the Blues ahead of the Trade period.

“I’d be very surprised if that deal doesn’t get done at some point over the next few days,” he said.

“He’s out of contract and West Coast understand he wants to head back to Victoria.

“The two clubs are working towards that.”

He also said Mitch McGovern’s time at the club may nnot be over.

“There is some chance Mitch stays. It will all be determined by how this period goes for us. It is unfortunate, once the period ends we will make an assessment on if he fits our list.”
