Live AFL Scores: Fremantle Dockers look for 14th in on the trot against Gold Coast Suns

Fremantle has been unstoppable in 2026 but if there’s a midfield who can slow them down, it could very well be the star-studded Suns. Follow all the action from Optus Stadium with our live blog.

Fremantle has been unstoppable in 2026 but if there’s a midfield who can slow them down, it could very well be the star-studded Suns.

Gold Coast have not been in the best of form but still boast Matt Rowell, Noah Anderson, Touk Miller and Christian Petracca.

However, former Docker Sam Collins will have his hands full trying to stop Josh Treacy, Pat Voss and Jye Amiss.

The rain made that a tough quarter to watch with only one goal kicked.

The footy has slipped off the side of the boot of most set shots while it proved tough to pick up from both sides.

The down side of Fremantle’s lethal fast use is it can’t stand up in slippery conditions, the margin for error is just too small.

Reid is still dominating for the home side with nearly 20 touches and probably needs some attention from the likes of Touk Miller.

Clark also came into the contest more with the Suns getting forward.

Rowell and Petracca are leading the clearances but have not done much outside of that.

Mixed signals

The Dockers are losing the clearance count 10-20 and it is starting to tell a little.

Gold Coast were more than 40 disposals down in the first term but that gap has closed to 17.

Freo are still dominating inside 50s which is why the Suns are struggling to score, all those touches are in the back half trying to escape.

The Sun has also come back out over Optus and Fremantle will hope it can dry things up quickly.

The great equaliser

The rain has enabled the Suns back into the game with the wet ball really slowing the Dockers down.

The home side have been unable to gather as cleanly as they did in the first term while it was dry and the slog is keeping the Suns in the contest.

The Dockers are still the better team but the movement is becoming over use in the conditions.

The love

Do you think Luke Jackson is loving having Sean Darcy back?

King’s awake

The Suns get their first goal of the game after a smart lead form King.

The Coleman Medal leader fakes right by going behind Cox and then ducks back out left and gets a strong mark.

King went goalless in the elimination final but has kicked a major in every game he’s played since.

The purple wave is becoming a real headache for the competition now.

The Dockers used handballs to unleash their run as often as possible and nearly doubled the Suns disposal count.

Gold Coast lead the clearances but as soon as they give their first disposal they are under intense pressure and are completly out-matched by Freo’s forwards.

Reid and Bolton are ripping them to shreds in the middle and they won’t care about the driving rain.

There’s a little bit of argy-bargy on the siren but it’s just the Suns upset with their start.

Rain inbound

The dark clouds have come over Optus Stadium again and we are likely to get some heavy rain over the next hour.

It won’t worry the Dockers who are torching the Suns and could be further up but for Amiss hitting the post twice.

Freddy’s fast

Frederick has the first three goals of the game and they’ve all come from set shots.

The Dockers are killing the Suns with speed through the corridor.

The Suns have also been caught out jumping for marks they can’t get to which then allows the Docker player to run off unchallenged before the defender lands.

Frederick has a career-best of four goals.

On line

Fremantle go forward after a strong clunk from Treacy on the wing and Frederick slots a nice set shot.

Amiss missed one earlier but Fremantle win it back from the kick out and Frederick hit the kick in the hardest and was rewarded with chest mark.

Underway

The first tap ends in a stalemate and we have three further stoppages as the presure is up early.

The Suns are the first team to escape the centre square but they get wrapped up inside 50.
