A Sydney Swans star has been knocked out during a late night confrontation with two others outside a popular nightspot.

Taylor Adams, 32, was hit so hard in the face that he lost consciousness and had to be rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital by ambulance.

Police have confirmed that just after 10.10pm on Saturday, officers were called to Sydney’s popular Club Rose Bay after reports of an assault a few metres away.

“Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended and were told a 32-year-old man was involved in an argument and a subsequent assault with two men,” a police statement on the incident reads.

“The 32-year-old man was allegedly punched in the face by one of the men causing a small cut to his cheek, as well as being knocked to the ground where he lost consciousness briefly.”

Police say the other men had left the scene before officers arrived.

“Police have been told the two men are not known to the 32-year-old man,” they said.

The Daily Telegraph reports that before the incident Mr Adams was out celebrating with a group of Swans players.

It is understood he was released from hospital on Sunday morning.

It is not suggested that Mr Adams was the aggressor in the incident.

Sydney released a statement on Sunday morning, confirming the incident.

“(Taylor) Adams was taken to hospital after the incident for further assessment. He was released from hospital at 7am Sunday morning and will be monitored on a daily basis.

“The Sydney Swans does not tolerate violence in any form and is working with Adams and NSW police to identify the offender.”

Club Rose Bay has recently been revamped and is owned by Justin Hemmes’ Merivale group.

A veteran midfielder, Adams has spent his pre-season training in rehabilitation after suffering a partial tear of his Achilles tendon in December.

The one-time All-Australian was limited to just four appearances last season in his second season at the Swans following recurring hamstring injuries.

Adams had made the move from Collingwood at the end of 2023, missing out on a spot in the 2024 grand final against Brisbane under then-coach John Longmire.
