BREAKING: Aussie cycling star disqualified
Australia’s Felicity Wilson-Haffenden has been dramatically disqualified ahead of her women’s individual pursuit bronze medal race.
Wilson-Haffenden, alongside teammate Sophie Edwards, have been struck down for alleged clothing and equipment issues.
She has been a breakout star and led the late charge in yesterday’s record-breaking gold medal win during the 4000m team pursuit against New Zealand.
Officials cited her disqualification came on a rule violation for “clothing and other items or accessories worn by a rider may not modify the morphology of the rider”.
While Ewards has been struck for “for using a helmet that has been altered or had any element added or removed in terms of design or form”.
New Zealand’s Bryony Brotha will take her place, leaving no Aussie in contention for a medal in the individual pursuit finals.
Go for gold Cassar
Jacob Cassar didn’t require a miracle comeback this time around, beating Khoahli via unanimous decision.
The judges all agreed that the Aussie left no doubt about the winner overwhelmingly scoring 30-27 for a 5-0 scorecard.
He will fight the winner of England’s Patris Mughalzai and Zambia’s Emmanuel Katema for the gold medal.
Judo flying
Vas Middleton has picked up another elimination round win in the Judo, with preceedings flying on the mats.
Bronze on the cards
Felicity Wilson-Haffenden will race for bronze following all the solo pursuit qualifiers.
She set a new games record early, but that was beaten another three times.
No other Aussie will contend.
Missing pieces not a problem
The mixed 4x400m relay team has earned an automatic qualification into the final after a top two heat finish.
Missing their full strength, the quad crossed the line jus behind Nigeria which is a promising sign come tomorrow’s final.

Bryson goes down swinging
Conceding the first two rounds Bryson came out swinging, literally, in the final round with nothing too lose.
It was an almighty barrage from the Aussie to close out the set, and she gave it her all but could not make up the difference following the unanimous losses in the first two.
Ultimatley losing via unanimous decision 5-0, she will fight for bronze.
Firey clashes heat up
The combat sports are in full flight tonight, and Joshua Katz has notched the first Aussie win under his built - beating Rwanda’s Alban Bouvet 101-0.
In the ring, Eve Elizabeth Bryson is locked in a heated bout against England’s Sarah Hickey.
The Pom earned the judges favour in the first round, and Bryson was given a standing count to start the second.
Delta jumps on
In the field events, Australia Delta Amidzovski looks likely to move on in the long jump.
She didn’t make it easy for herself on the third jump, taking off from 15cm back of the required line.
Despite that she registered her best jump at 6.55m, putting her fourth with more to jump.
Another games record for Felicity
Following her fantastic ride in yesterday’s record-breaking gold medal win, Felicity Wilson-Haffenden has qualified for the individual run with another games record.
She helped lead the team in the closing stretch to complete an epic comeback against New Zealand, and the youngster will go for gold herself showing no sings of fatigue with a games record 4.32.323 qualifying time.
Trio of sprinters qualify
Three Aussies have filled up the 16 open spots in the women’s sprint qualifiers at the velodrome.
Alessia McCaig, Molly McGill and Liliya Tatarinoff all had fine rides to move on.
