Stunningly, the all-conquering hosts will resume still 67 runs in arrears of the tourists, having lost four second-innings wickets yesterday.
Green made his way to 43 not out at stumps, having had a huge stroke of luck when an inside edge which deflected off his thigh pad and onto the stumps failed to dislodge the bails.

Under way in Darwin
Somewhat surprisingly, Bangladesh have opened up with left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, who knocked over Marnus Labuschagne yesterday but was not able to extract much spin from the surface in Darwin.
Cam Green and Alex Carey have both got away comfortably.

One highlight
Just about the sole positive to come out of this game has been the return of Josh Hazlewood.
The metronomic seamer, who missed last summer’s Ashes due to injury, claimed a six-wicket haul to become just the ninth Australian to have claimed 300 victims at Test level.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh are on the verge of what would unquestionably be the most famous victory in their history.
Their unheralded bowling attack has caused Australia all sorts of trouble - and seamer Hasan Mahmud, who already has eight wickets for the game, has been central to that.
Much expected
Despite the dire situation, Channel Seven experts Ricky Ponting and Matthew Hayden are expecting big things from Australia’s batters today.
Hayden called the surface at Darwin’s TIO Stadium a “very, very good wicket” with “lots of runs” left in it, and Ponting said the remaining players would have “no excuses”.
