Big Bash League final recap: Perth Scorchers battle Sydney Sixers for sixth title

Cricket: The Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers are the Big Bash’s titans and the pair clash again in what is set to be another classic finale.
The Scorchers got the job done in Tuesday’s Qualifier in Perth as they saw off a red-hot Steve Smith.
But after the men in magenta powered past reigning champions Hobart Hurricanes in Friday night’s Challenger, they bring good form back to Optus Stadium.
Stay up to date with our live blog, with play to begin at 4.15pm WA time.

BAT FLIP: Scorchers win and will CHASE!
IT’S OVER! SCORCHERS ARE CHAMPS!
That’s it and that’s all! The Scorchers have done it!
Inglis seals it with a towering six down the ground, and they’re celebrating on the pitch and in the stands!
JUST 9 NEEDED
9 to get, 18 balls remain.
Inglis has kept a cool head (with a couple of loose shots) to be 23 off 25, with Connolly at the other end and Evans to come.
It’s ended up being a little tighter than expected, but the trophy is still set to light up orange.
ANOTHER WICKET
... and there it is! Turner goes!
The skipper won’t hit the winning runs. Edwards claims his scalp, with Smith taking a fine catch at mid-on.
Connolly comes out to a roaring ovation, and it’s 4-121. 12 off 22 required.
13 needed off 24
The equation is getting just a tiny bit tighter, but it’s still well in hand.
13 to get. Inglis still there, Turner with him, Connolly and Evans to come. But another wicket here might make it a tiny teeny bit interesting...
MARSH GOES!
Marsh sadly won’t be there at the end, though he’s done more than enough.
He departs for 44 off 43, with his leading edge taken by Starc at third man off Abbott’s bowling.
A superb ovation for the veteran. He’ll be celebrating tonight before flying out to Pakistan tomorrow to help steer Australia’s T20s against Pakistan on the eve of the World Cup.
Just 15 needed from 30!
We’re heading into what could be the last over of the match (if Marsh decides to go BANG)
It’s been a bit of a fizzer, not that anyone in Perth is complaining. Just dominance from the Scorchers. What a tournament, what a team.
Scorchers 2-112: 21 needed off 36
They’re within touching distance now! Just one big Inglis / Marsh over from ending it.
Marsh is 42 off 40 and has steered the ship superbly tonight. Snared a couple of catches in the field, too.
The Mexican Wave is back, and even bigger than before. Fans enjoying themselves (and the rain has kindly stayed away for a stretch)
Scorchers 2-106: 27 needed off 42
Starc keeps it super tidy to finish, and produces a couple of play-and-misses - but ultimately, it hasn’t been enough today.
1-33 for the star veteran.
Scorchers 2-104: 29 needed off 48
Inglis is getting in on the act! He peels off a pair of fours - one a fairly streaky edge - off Edwards, and the target is now firmly in sight.
Just 29 to get, with eight overs to get them in, and eight wickets in hand. Cruising.
Record crowd!
It’s official: Today’s crowd is a new record for a Perth Scorchers (or any cricket) game in WA.
55,018 is the number, surpassing the previous mark of 53,886. A brilliant turnout, and all bar a few of them will be heading home happy you’d suggest!
