Star quick Josh Hazlewood returns to the Australian XI for the Brisbane Test, with Scott Boland the unlucky omission.

The hosts levelled the series 1-1 with a triumphant 10-wicket win in Adelaide, which followed India’s equally-comprehensive victory in Perth in the opening Test.

There are still question marks for Australia with Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja so far unconvincing at the top of the order, while India have concerns over the fitness of star quick Jasprit Bumrah.

Follow all the action from the Gabba in our live blog below.

Huge puddles

The rain has teemed down and there are huge puddles on the ground.

An early Lunch will be taken but the Gabba does drain well.

Hopefully we get some action in the second session.

Rain again

This looks a little heavier than last time.

It will be squalls all day so get used to this.

Testing

India have found a better length in the last few overs thanks to Deep and the Aussies are playing and missing a but more.

McSweeney has been batting well out of his crease but he’s bogged down with four runs from 31 deliveries.

Best opening partnership of the series!

It may be a mere 26 runs but this is the best opening partnership to date.

Runs have been hard to come by at the top for Australia but this is at least something.

The pitch is not doing as much as India would have hoped.

Aussie pick up

Khawaja has followed through on his positive approach and it’s forced a change with Akash Deep to bowl his first over of the series.

He will get plenty of swing.

Sun shines

The sun returns! At least for now.

The players are returning to the middle with play to resume.

Feud brewing?

Covers still on

The rain stopped five minutes ago but the covers have not moved.

Must be more on the way.

Rain delay

And here we go again.

Just five and a half overs into an east coast Test we are off for rain.

Khawaja will be very frustrated as he’s looking as good as he has in the last 12 months.

India will need to reassess their lengths during the break. They’ve been too short.

AUS 0-19

Ball complaints

India don’t like this ball.

It’s doing very little with Bumrah getting light swing once it passes the batter.

Meanwhile, Khawaja looks happy to be home.

He’s attacked Adelaide villain Siraj, playing a very nice pull shot to the rope.

Bumrah is still causing issues but both Aussies are leaving well.
