Sam Konstas had an unbelievable debut on the Test stage as Australia finally saw solid top-order runs only for Jaspirt Bumrah to haul India back once again.

Relive all the action from the MCG here!

Australia 1/116

RUNS! After 24 straight dot balls Khawaja takes on the pull and nails it over midwicket for four.

Deep nearly gets him next ball with one that swings away and repeats the dose next ball.

Beaten again for the thrid straight ball but at least this time Khawaja is playing well inside the line.

Testing period this.

Maidens after lunch

Khawaja plays and misses before defending the rest from Deep.

Bumrah attacks from the other end, there’s half an appeal for a catch down the legside but Labushcagne was nowhere near it.

Khawaja’s outside edge is beaten again by Deep as three straight maidens start us off after a whirlwind first session.

Welcome back

It’s been one of the most incredible sessions of Boxing Day cricket but we return to familiar territory of Khawaja and Labuschagne who will be desperate to build off the best start of the summer.

Akash Deep will start us after lunch.

Konstas wrap

If you’re just playing catch-up on the morning’s events... there’s been PLENTY.

Here’s the wrap on the Konstas-Kohli clash, followed by the breakdown of Konstas’ heroics with the bat!

LUNCH: Australia 1-112

That’s the end of an unforgettable session!

Australia well on top after that first two hours. Konstas was undoubtedly the story, first for his fearless ramp shots that put Bumrah to the sword, and next due to his clash with Kohli in the middle of the MCG.

The teenager was out for 60, while Khawaja (38no) and Labuschagne (12no) will look to continue building after the lunch break.

We’ll return then after a breather... what a start to Boxing Day it’s been!

Bumrah returns - Aus 1-103

Bumrah’s back into the attack to examine Labuschagne before the lunch break.

He went for 0-38 from his first six overs - remarkable considering how tight he kept things in his first couple and how much he has dominated proceedings for this entire series.

Australia 1-92

Marnus is off the mark, and Khawaja has made a patient 29 at the other end.

We’ll have probably four more overs until the lunch break on what’s been a wild morning!

KONSTAS GONE!

An innings that will long live in the memory comes to an end!

Konstas has to go after Jadeja pins him LBW. He was close in the previous over, but this time he gets his man!

The teenager goes for 60, off just 65 balls, with two sixes and and six fours. Unreal stuff, and a partnership of 89 to set the game up.

Labuschagne comes to the crease.

CLOSE!

Konstas survives a big LBW shout as Jadeja comes into the attack, with the ball going down leg.

He lives to tell the tale and the partnership is now worth 86. Can India prise a wicket ahead of the lunch break?

Chris Robinson

Australia 0-82

Amid all the drama - and there’s been plenty - this is now a superb start for Australia.

Konstas is 55 and Khawaja is now looking assured at the other end on 26, and India - despite probing early - appear to have few answers.

There’s 40 minutes remaining until lunch.
