Boxing Day Test: Follow the latest on Day 1 as Australia look to take series lead against India

Konstas has a half-century!

He gets a standing ovation after giving the MCG punters a Test morning they won’t soon forget.

The teenager points to his Aussie badge on his shirt with his badge... and follows up the very next ball with a four off Siraj to midwicket!

This is extraordinary stuff...

It’s only been one hour of the Sam Konstas Test cricket experience... and it has given us PLENTY.

Australia are 0-65, with Konstas going at a run-a-ball 47. Unreal stuff at the MCG, and the tourists appear rattled.

Here’s the full moment of the clash between Konstas and Kohli in the middle:

There’s a BIG moment here as Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas bump into each other while walking alongside the pitch at the change of overs.

“That is getting looked at, big time,” says Seven’s Damien Fleming.

The umpires come in to douse things... but has it fired up Konstas even more?

He launches two fours and a HUGE six down the ground off Bumrah in the ensuing over and has now raced to 45!

Australia are 0-62.

Konstas produces a more convention boundary with a beautiful cut.

“I love his fight... he’s going to take it to the Indians,” Justin Langer says.

What a first 45 minutes that was!

Sam Konstas, take a bow... he had a plan and after some early jitters, he executed it in one hell of an over off Bumrah.

He’s moved along to 20 on debut, and Khawaja is looking more assured than he has at most times in this series with 16.

“I wonder if he sat back last night and said, ‘You know what, boys? I’m going to reverse sweep him all day here.”

Konstas is NOT deterred by missing those two ramp shots...

He tries and succeeds with THREE more! Two for four and one for six! Off Bumrah, no less!

A stunning first half-hour from the teenager as he moves along to 19!! And it forces India into a fielding change with a fine third. It’s 0-26.

Siraj has some advice for Konstas after a big swing-and-miss from the teenager.

But both batters find threes in the sixth over to double Australia’s tally... it’s now 0-12.

The kid is still there - and he’s got some serious courage!

He tries that reverse ramp once again, again with no luck, and moments later only barely squeezes out an attempted yorker.

Slow going for the Aussies with just two scoring shots across the first five overs, but importantly, they’re surviving.
