Australia will be looking to put their foot to the floor to carve out a win at the Gabba, with a defiant India and Brisbane’s rain standing in their path.

Follow the latest from Day 5 here!

Block!

Jaiswal sees off Starc’s first ball with a block.

India need 275 to win.

DECLARATION: India need 275 to win

The Aussies have called it!

India need 275 from 54 overs, at around 5.1 per over. (That’s if the rain stays away, and it continues to threaten)

They’d be an unlikely prospect to chase it, but can Australia snare some early wickets to spark their own hopes of an unlikely victory here?

We’ll restart in a few minutes as Starc and Cummins take the new ball.

CUMMINS GOES

Cummins looks to go after one too many, and skies one to KL Rahul at mid-off to hand Bumrah a third scalp.

It’s 7-85 and no declaration yet. We’re unlikely to see the injured Josh Hazlewood bat, so we’re likely down to Australia’s last two wickets.

Australia 6-85

And another 12 off the next over as the lead swells to 270.

Cummins is now Australia’s unlikely leading scorer with 22 - off just 9 balls - with Alex Carey in support on 17.

Cummins goes BANG

The skipper continues the aggressive approach as the declaration looms large!

Cummins smokes a cow-corner six to help Australia take 13 runs from the Akash over.

It’s 6-73, with the lead up to 258. 58 overs left in the day.

HEAD GOES! Eye on a declaration?

Travis Head departs for 17 after a couple of wildly aggressive shots, likely signalling the Aussies’ intent on declaring soon.

Drinks come onto the field, and there may be a bit of life in this match yet if the weather can hold out!

It’s 6-60 - a lead of 245. There’s 59 overs left in the day, with two for a change of innings.

So perhaps a target of somewhere in the vicinity of 280 for India to chase in 50 overs is in the Aussies’ thinking? Giving themselves enough time to put the tourists to the sword with the ball?

Chris Robinson

Australia 5-43

South Aussie duo Head (13) and Carey (7) are looking to steady the ship here.

The Aussie lead is 229, with 61 overs left in the day - though conditions have darkened a fraction here as more clouds threaten the general area.

AND SMITH GOES!

It’s another catch for Pant and another Aussie wicket!

Smith departs in similar fashion to his dismissal in Adelaide, getting strangled down the leg side. Siraj is the bowler.

He’s gone for four, and it’s remarkably 5-33!

We were hoping for plenty of action on the final day, but we certainly weren’t expecting this...

Chris Robinson

AND NOW MARSH GOES!

They’re dropping like flies!

Australia have lost 4-17 here!

Marsh is the third straight batter to nick off to Pant behind the stumps, failing to deal with one that seams away from Akash and deparying for just 2.

Smith comes to the crease at No.6 - a throwback to his lower-middle order days - and joins fellow first-inning centurion Head. It’s 4-28.

Chris Robinson

Australia 3-26

Head peels off a couple of boundaries off the latest Bumrah over to settle things down a fraction.

That was a wild flurry, but we’re ultimately playing for very little in the context of this match at least.

The Aussies are 3-26, a lead of 211, with 65 overs remaining in the day - but plenty of weather still around.
