A dramatic day one in Sydney saw a captain dropped, 11 wickets fall and fiery exchanges what will day two have in store as Australia looks to overcome India’s total on a spicy pitch?

Follow all the action live.

Second session underway

Prasidh continues after lunch.

He’s bowling much better than his first spell this morning.

Webster defends the first five but on the last ball Prasidh overpitches and Webster bunts him back down the ground for four.

OPINION: With four days of series left, it’s time to start behaving

The West’s Craig O’Donoghue reflects on some of the flashpoints in this series.

India in front

Another top-order collapse left the Aussies reeling at 4/39.

Smith and Webster then put on a 50-run partnership to stem the bleeding before Krishna landed one on the spit to remove Smith.

Australia are still 84 runs behind on a pitch that’s still doing plenty with only the tail to come.

You feel Carey and Webster, who has looked solid on his debut, will have to wipe out most of the deficit to get Australia back in this.

LUNCH - AUS 5/101

Siraj will bowl the final over.

Webster gets off-strike with a single to fine leg.

Alex Carey is off the mark crashing the overpitch ball from Siraj through the covers for four and brings up the team 100.

SMITH FALLS

He was 5 runs away from 10,000 Test runs but he cops a great ball from Krishna which just moves away to catch the edge and it’s caught at slip.

It’s a massive strike for India with lunch looming and after a hard-fought partnership, India are back on the front foot. AUS 5/96

Deficit under 100

Webster steers Nitish Kumar past the cordon for four through third man.

A single brings Smith on strike who cracks back-to-back boundaries with a perfect straight drive and then crashes the short and wide one through point.

It brings up the 50 partnership and brings the deficit down to 93 runs though there’s still along way to go.

A win of sorts - AUS 4/78

Nitish Kumar Reddy comes on meaning Australia have at least seen off Bumrah for now.

Though he nearly gets Webster first ball with a full ball that swings away. Siraj is on from the other end and has arguably been India’s best bowler so far.

Smith and Webster work the ones moving the partnership to 40.

Webster and Smith launch rebuild - AUS 4/71

Webster has looked relatively comfortable at the crease pulling Krishna for his first boundary and generally showing decent judgement outside off.

Smith has settled after his big shots before drinks but has had one or two nervy moments with the legside trap Bumrah has set for him.

Krishna has not been nearly as threatening as Siraj or Bumrah just yet having not quite found his length

Drinks - AUS 4/58

India on the charge after that first hour though Konstas will be regretting his shot having seen off Bumrah.

Before the break Smith pulled Prasidh Krishna for six before an incredible all hands lofted cover drive for four.

You feel he’s going to have to score the bulk of the runs if Australia are to be any chance

An update on Cam Bancroft and Daniel Sams

In case you missed it last night Cam Bancroft and Daniel Sams were involved in a horror collision in last night’s Big Bash clash between the Scorchers and the Thunder.

Bancroft has been left with a broken nose and shoulder while both are awaiting the results of the CT scans.
