Cricket: Ben Stokes is once again holding England together, but Australia know a good day will all but seal The Ashes as they look to wrap up the tail.

England limped to 8-213 thanks to a 45 run stand between Stokes and Jofra Archer to leave the Barmy Army with a glimmer of hope.

There was more DRS drama but Australia were largely superb with the ball and will be looking to wrap up two quick wickets and then bat for a long chunk of time to secure The Ashes once again.

Folllow the day in our blog below!

Aaron Kirby is reporting live.

Given!

Weatherald has been trapped lbw by Carse.

The big quick pitches one on leg and gets it to straighten.

The opener played all around the ball and it thunders into his pads.

He and Head contemplate a reveiw but Weatherald walks off. However, a reveiw would have saved him as the ball pitched outside leg stump.

Important period

Australia have 20 minutes before Lunch and will look to avoid losing wickets.

If England can grab two or three before the break they will be right back in the contest.

However, Archer has started with a no-ball and four byes down led side.

Edged and taken!

Boland gets his third and Australia will take an 85-run advantage into the second dig.

The seamer bowled one a little wide and full and Archer couldn’t help but drive.

The nick goes straight to slip and he is out for 51.

Boland back

The last pair are dragging this out and Boland is back to try and finish it.

Archer will have a dip here.

Review

Starc goes full and straight to Tongue and raps him on the pads.

He loves it but the umpire says no.

Starc send it straight upstairs but ball tracking remains umpires call with nearly half the ball hitting leg stump.

Got him again!

It’s a repeat of the Perth dismissal for Stokes.

Starc decks one back into the English skipper and it crashes into off stump.

Stokes is furious but there was not much he could have done about that. Out for 83.

Jofra’s match

Archer adds a maiden Test half century to his five wickets and it’s been quite the match for the quick.

It will also do his relaitionship with the skipper a world of good after a frosty encounter yesterday.

100 partnership

Stokes gets cut in half by Cummins second ball but an inside edge races to the fine leg rope for four.

Stones on to 80 as these two bring up the 100 partnership for just the second time in the series.

Some swing

Starc got one scramble-seam delivery to swing miles and it just missed Archer’s off stump.

However, the new pill isn’t doing much.

That one ball has Archer prodding again though.
