The Ashes Recap: Follow the latest from Day 3 of the Third Test from Adelaide Oval

Cricket: Ben Stokes did his best to hold England together, but Australia were far too good on a day that all but wraps up the Ashes as a contest.
England were bowled out for 286 before Travis Head hit his fourth Test century at the Adelaide Oval in his past four matches there.
Alex Carey also added another handy knock.
Recap the day in our blog below.
Mr Adelaide!
Head does it again!
He has two Test hundreds as an opener in just five attempts and makes it four Test hundreds at Adelaide Oval in his past four Adelaide Tests.
Root made him wait with darts and then he got dropped by Brook at backward point off Archer on 99 cutting.
He finally got there in Root’s next over with a smash over mid-off for four.
The superstar kissed the pitch in celebration!

Stokes off
The skipper has gone off the field after hitting the back of his head on the centre block while diving forward to stop the ball.
Brook takes over as vice captain with help from Root.
AUS 4-198, lead by 282
Tactical errors
Former Australia coach Justin Langer has been scathing of the English bowling attack, questioning why they would bowl short to Travis Head wide of off stump where the opener loves to hit the ball there.
“Rarely do you bowl to someone’s strengths and hope they make a mistake,” he said.
He told Seven viewers England’s tactics were not something you did if you were “well-planned”.
AUS 4-192, lead by 277
The Stokes toll
England need to start taking care of their skipper.
Stokes bowled 19 overs in the first innings and batted for hours yesterday in the blistering 40-degree conditions before resuming the innings this morning.
It’s taken it’s toll.
We are 45 overs into the second innings and he hasn’t bowled yet.
Jacks and Roots are covering his overs.
He has been out in the field the whole time as well.
AUS 4-187, lead by 272

Into the 90s
Another hard cut shot moves Head into the 90s.
He has scored a century in each of his last three home Tests.
AUS 4-177, lead by 262
Root cause
Joe Root has been thrown the ball with Jacks being so poor.
“Enough’s enough” says Justin Langer in the coms box of Jacks.
AUS 4-175, lead by 260
Six!
Head has been shaking his head at the non-striker’s end so shows how it is done.
He uses his feet to Jacks and belts him down the ground for six!
That’s 11 Test maximums at Adelaide Oval.
AUS 4-156, lead by 241
Green goes
Green is still one of the worst starters in world cricket and he drives a full ball to the only slip, Brook at second.
He departs for seven after a two-ball duck in the first knock.
Oh boy!
Khawaja has gifted Jacks another wicket.
Jacks dropped short and wide and the No.4 just played under the ball.
The ball catches the top edge of the cut shot and it’s an easy catch for Smith.
Khawaja goes for 40.
AUS 3-139, lead by 224
Dire start
Jacks gets the third session underway with three balls outside Khawaja’s leg stump.
He sweeps two to the fence and then picks up an easy single.
AUS 2-131, lead by 216
