Sam Welsford is back in action with the tempo race of the men’s omnium now under way.
The format of the discipline is complicated but the aim of the game is to finish each individual lap in first.
Richo rides on
After winning bronze in the men’s team sprint, WA’s Matthew Richardson will now be looking for glory in the individual event.
He has been drawn against Japan’s Yuta Obara for his heat, which is slated to start inside the next half an hour.
Delay at the velodrome
A big crash in the women’s keirin quarterfinals will see a delay in the action at the velodrome.
Three riders came together on the finish line, with shards from bikes scattered all over the track.
Australia’s Kristina Clonan was not caught up in the crash but will not progress after finishing sixth.
One down, three to go
A 14th-placed finish for Sam Welsford in the scratch race is an unspectacular start to his men’s omnium.
He will be looking to get himself up the leaderboard in the three remaining disciplines, with the tempo race next up later this hour.
Welsford back in action
Sam Welsford, one of three WA riders in the gold medal-winning team pursuit outfit, is currently back in action for the men’s omnium.
The event is composed of four individual races, with the ongoing 10km scratch race considered his weakest.
Green off the green
After shooting five over par on day one, Hannah Green had a much better time of things on day two, finishing two under.
She is currently tied for 29th, with Minjee Lee tied for 23rd two strokes ahead.
Diver Kurtis Mathews “stoked”
Kurtis Mathews said he was “stoked” with an Olympic showing which saw him finish 10th in the men’s 3m springboard final.
“It was an amazing experience,” he said.
He revealed his mum had suffered a broken arm on her first day in Paris but was still in the stands cheering him on throughout the Games.
Across to gymnastics
The other Australian currently in action is in the rhythmic gymnastics, with Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva competing in individual all-around qualifying.
She sits 17th of 24 competitiors after three of four rotations.
China 1-2
The gold medal winner in the 3m springboard is China’s Xie Siyi, who added to his Tokyo gold by beating countryman Wang Zongyuan in a thrilling finish.
Mexico’s Osmar Olvera claimed the the bronze medal.
