After a tense first two quarters, we looked destined for a 0-0 halftime score, but Australia won a penalty corner just before the whistle, and with the last shot of the half, they found the left-hand quarter.
Both teams spent most of the half feeling each other out, but the Aussies will feel like they can attack the last two quarters with renewed gusto after scoring.

WA’s Aran Zalewski is in action, as Australia takes on Argentina in hockey.
Zalewski is the skipper and will start, while WA’s Jake Harvie and Tom Wickham are in the squad.
Patty thrills as Boomers down Spain
A late dagger from Patty Mills has seen the Boomers claim victory over Spain to kick start their campaign.
With Spain getting within six points late, Mills hit a three-pointer to put the nail in the coffin and seal the win for Australia.
He finished with 19 points, Jock Landale 20, and Josh Giddey 17.
The Boomers now turn their attention to Tuesday’s clash with Canada.
Men’s 4x100m freestyle qualifies for final
The men’s 4x100m freestyle team has followed suit from the women, taking out the heat with Kyle Chalmers looking at his best.
The side claimed the heat win over the US in heat two, with a time of 3:12.25.
Boomers up by 13 late against Spain
Australia has pulled ahead in their clash against Spain, leading by 13 points with 2:26 on the clock.
Jock Landale has been massive with 20 points so far.

Australia through to women’s 4x100m Freestyle final
Strong swims from Meg Harris has Emma McKeon have allowed Australia to qualify for the 4x100m Freestyle final.
They finished with a time of 3:31.57 ahead of China in the second heat.
Boomers build on lead against Spain
The Boomers are up against Spain as we head into the fourth period. Jock Landale has 16 points in a strong effort.
Winnington performs strongly in heat
Elijah Winnington went toe to toe with favourite Lukas Märtens throughout his 400m freestyle heat.
Although Maertens puled ahead, both Aussies Winnington and Sam Short have qualified for the final later tonight.
