Families across Australia will not be diving into boxes of Celebrations this Christmas, with the chocolate treats pulled from shelves.

The Mars-branded confectionary product has been discontinued in Australia, with cost and supply challenges to blame.

“Our Celebrations products were imported from Europe and, like many Australian businesses importing products from overseas, we’re experiencing rising cost pressures and supply challenges,” a Mars spokesperson said.

“Late last year, we made the difficult decision to discontinue the Celebrations brand in Australia.”

The mixed chocolate boxes — which include Snickers, Mars, Bounty, Milky Way and Maltesers — have been a favourite since launching in 1997.

An online search of the treats at Coles and Woolworths shows they are “out of stock” or “currently unavailable”.

Mars is “currently reviewing options” and hopes the product can be reintroduced in Australia in 2025.

“We know Celebrations is a much-loved brand that plays a role at many family gatherings, events and of course, celebrations,” the spokesperson said.

“We hope to have positive news to share with Australian consumers over the coming months.”

Popular food reviewer Russ Eats, who ranked Celebrations as the best Christmas chocolate, flagged something was wrong on Wednesday when he was tipped off by an “insider” that the product was being discontinued “at least for this Christmas”.

“I cannot find them at Woolies or Coles,” he said in a TikTok video.

Social media was in shock over the news, with one person labelling it a “monstrosity”.

“Celebrations get the axe and yet Roses continue to be shelf-warmers. Russ, we need to discuss this,” they said.
