Edgecliff crash: Seriously injured woman trapped when car crashes and rolls on Bayswater Road

These are pictures from our Sunrise chopper of a traffic snarl in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. A car rolled onto its roof on Baywater road at Edgecliff shortly after four o'clock.

A driver has been seriously injured when her car hit a traffic light and rolled onto its roof in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

The woman, aged in her 40s, became trapped in her overturned BMW SUV following the crash about 4.15am on Friday on Bayswater Rd, Edgecliff.

Because of the seriousness of her injuries, rescue personnel and paramedics moved quickly to free her from the wreckage.

She was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a serious condition.

The cause of the accident is not yet known.

Traffic in the area was brought to a halt early on Friday morning as the traffic lights were repaired but has since returned to normal.
