A real estate agent has copped a lashing from an experienced cleaner after she was called back to a rental to remove “residue” on a dishwasher that was still wrapped in its protective plastic.

The Better Clean Team founder, Fiona Morris, returned to the New South Wales property days after completing an end-of-lease clean after the agent threatened to withhold the tenant’s bond.

With more than 30 years of cleaning experience under her belt, Ms Morris is no stranger to unrealistic vacate clean expectations, but this instance tipped her over the edge and prompted her to post it to her business’ TikTok page.

“Next on the list of ‘we’re gonna take your bond unless you come back and fix s..it’ is... clean off white sticky residue off dishwasher door,” Ms Morris began her online tirade.

Pointing to the mark in question, Morris claimed the tenant had never used the dishwasher out of fear it would end up being another point of contention with the property agent at the time of vacate.

“Fun fact, this dishwasher has never been used, the film is still on it,” Ms Morris continued.

“When the real estate came out and they told us to come back for that I said to them ‘hey listen, it’s never been used, she’s never touched it.

“What they peeled off, they just left on the bench. That’s acceptable but this here is not. You ready, Mr Real Estate, you f..king wombat.”

Ms Morris then began to peel off the transparent plastic layer on the dishwasher to reveal a mark-free door.

“This is why real estates and landlords lose good tenants,” she stressed.

“Imagine you’re this tenant and you live this clean and then you’re so paranoid as a tenant at the power the agent and the landlord holds over your home, that you would get called back for that when you have never used this appliance.”

The furious rant garnered widespread attention online, with many tenants saying the video sums up their own similar experiences with agents and landlords.

“Our real estate took some of our bond as there were leaves on the back patio. We did sweep, hose and clean our back patio, but wind kept blowing in leaves, which was out of our control,” one person shared.

Another said: “Our rental didn’t have a dishwasher and we installed a Bosch dishwasher and left it when we left as we bought a house with a dishwasher. They complain that it wasn’t clean enough so we went back and removed it from the house and took it to the tip.”
