Gwydir Highway, Grafton: Teen charged with murder after brutal highway stabbing attack

A teenager has been charged with murder after a man was allegedly stabbed to death in a targeted attack in Northern NSW.
Emergency services were called to the Gwydir Highway near Hay Street, Waterview, about 1am on Wednesday after reports of an assault.
Police from the Coffs/Clarence Police District arrived to find a 35-year-old man suffering stab wounds. Despite efforts by NSW Ambulance paramedics, he died at the scene.

During an examination of the crime scene, detectives located and seized a knife, a metal pole and the handle of an axe.
Police say early inquiries suggest the attack was targeted.
As part of their investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at a Bent Street home in South Grafton about 2.40pm, arresting a 17-year-old boy.
Later that evening, about 7pm, officers attended a second home on Maxwell Street, where a second 17-year-old boy was arrested.
The teen arrested on Bent Street was charged with murder (domestic violence), while the second teen was charged with affray.
Both were refused bail to appear before a children’s court today.
