Norah Head: Man can not be revived after being pulled from surf at popular holiday spot in NSW

Members of the public have tried in vain to assist a man who was rescued from the surf at a popular holiday spot in northern NSW.

Police have confirmed a man died after being pulled from the water while swimming at a surf beach and could not be revived.

At about 6.20pm on Tuesday, emergency services responded to reports that members of the public were performing CPR on a man who had been removed from the surf at Cabbage Tree Bay Beach, Norah Head.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes police district assisted in CPR efforts until the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics, who took the 73-year-old man to Wyong Hospital where he died a short time later.

Police commenced an investigation into the incident.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
