Sydney trains: Technical issues leave thousands stranded during morning commute on Metro

Sydney commuters have suffered through another morning of pain on the railway network after works caused unannounced delays and cancellations.
Sydney trains have been advertising the progressive cancellations and rescheduling during the morning peak as Metro services stalled on Wednesday.
“Due to a technical issue with a metro at Cherrybrook, customers will need to change at Epping or Castle Hill to continue their journey. We apologise for the inconvenience,” a statement said.

“I’m heading home because I am lucky that I can use email and the phone, but there are so many people standing arguing with staff on the platforms and at the station because they don’t know what to do,” a caller to Ben Fordham’s Breakfast Show on 2GB said.
Sydney trains have since posted a new message on social media stating services are returning to normal but the flow-on effect is likely to last throughout the day.
“Metro services are now returning to normal operations. Please allow extra travel time. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
