Teen’s body found bushland off Wilton Park Rd at Wilton in Sydney’s southwest

A teenage boy’s body has been found in Sydney, in what NSW Police believe to be suspicious circumstances.

His body was found in bushland off Wilton Park Rd at Wilton, in Sydney’s southwest, about 7.25am on Saturday.

The boy has yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be a 15-year-old Picton boy.

He was not reported missing, but a concern for welfare was reported by a passerby, Acting Superintendent Tim Calman said.

NSW Police are treating his death as suspicious as have secured a crime scene.

It is unclear how the boy died at this stage, Calman said.

Wilton Park Rd was closed for a period of time as a result.

Police are pursuing a number of lines of investigation, Calman said.

“There may have been a group that were camping in that area,” he said.

“We believe that persons associated with that camping event may have been involved.”

Several teenagers are speaking with police at the moment in relation to the incident.

“Police are speaking to a number of witnesses, and we’re canvassing the local area,” Calman said.

No particular suspect has been identified at this stage, he said.

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact police, particularly anyone who was in the area from 6pm on Friday.
