Police are hunting a group of men after two people were violently assaulted in Sydney’s South-West early this morning.

Officers were called to the intersection of Yunga Burra Street and Kungala Street, Villawood, about 3.50am on Thursday, following reports of an attack.

Police from Bankstown police area command arrived to find two men — aged 42 and 39 — suffering injuries after being set upon by an unknown group.

During the assault, one of the men was allegedly struck with a pistol before the group fled the scene.

Both men were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to the hospital in stable conditions.

A crime scene has been established, and detectives have launched an investigation.
