Boy charged with manslaughter over crash with allegedly stolen car that killed woman and injured police in Murrumba Downs, QLD
A teenager has been charged over the death of a woman who was killed when he allegedly ran a red light in a stolen car and slammed into her vehicle north of Brisbane.
The 16-year-old boy allegedly stole a blue Audi sedan at gunpoint from a woman in Griffin at 9.30am, prompting officers to set up cordons in the area, Chief Superintendent Adam Guild said.

The Audi then continued on, only stopping when he speared into an unmarked police vehicle with two detectives inside. Both suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Paramedics performed CRP on the Toyota driver but she died at the scene.
The boy was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with significant leg injuries under police guard.
He has now been charged with manslaughter, armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.
He is due to appear in Brisbane Children’s Court on Friday.
It is believed the teen is linked to people inside a stolen orange Holden Hatchback, with the registration 906IP3, that was seen in the area at the time.
Anyone who sees or knows the whereabouts of the car is urged to contact triple-0 immediately.
“Members of the public are urged not to approach the vehicle, or anyone associated with the vehicle,” police said.
Earlier police said several crews had been either parked in or were patrolling around Griffin and Murrumba Downs in search of the stolen Audi but were not actively pursuing the car when it crashed.
“As a result of that crash, which was described as a high-impact collision, the stolen blue Audi sedan has impacted a stationary unmarked police vehicle,” Guild said.
Guild said investigations into the crash, and the lead-up to it, were continuing.
“We’ll be looking at all the aspects leading up to this morning, as well as determining whether there were any other persons involved,” he said.
Police say the 16-year-old is known to them and currently has matters before the court, however, he wasn’t on bail.
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli said he would have more to say about the “heartbreaking situation” in the coming days.
“Our priority is to support the family, first responders and a community grieving an unimaginable tragedy,” he said.
Crisafulli’s LNP government is set to usher in tough new “adult crime, adult time” legislation by Christmas after its election success.
