Bruce Highway: Traffic chaos as one dead, two others in serious condition following major crash at Bowen

A major crash has left one person dead and two others in serious condition, creating traffic chaos on one of Queenslands busiest motorways.

Forensic crash investigators are on the scene after the fatal collision in Bowen on Monday morning.

Police and emergency services were called at about 5.55am to the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Scully Street following reports of the two-vehicle traffic crash.

One person was declared deceased at the scene and two other patients were transported to Bowen Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The Bruce Highway, at the intersection of Scully Street, is closed in both directions with all traffic diverted through to Drays Road then onto Bootooloo Road, however, it is not suitable for heavy vehicles.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant information, dashcam or CCTV vision, to come forward via Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000.
