The man suffered gunshot wounds to his legs, police said.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene after neighbours called in reports of multiple shots being fired.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.

The woman was also treated for minor injuries but declined hospitalisation.

Police said they were investigating the “unlawful wounding” and the intruders were not known to the couple.

Neighbour Jessica Schultz told 7NEWS she heard a bang before hearing a man screaming “I’ve been shot, I’ve been shot!”.

“We all ran over to help,” she said.

Schultz said other neighbours were there applying pressure to the man’s wounds and waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

“The woman also had blood on her legs, but I wasn’t sure if she was injured because she was on the phone the whole time.”

Schultz also believed the man and woman had a young child at home.

Another neighbour told 7NEWS she saw someone jump into the passenger side of a white SVU before it sped away.

“Unknown offenders left the scene prior to police arrival,” police said.

“A crime scene has been declared and investigations are ongoing.”

Anyone with information, including any dashcam or CCTV vision from the area at the time, is urged to contact police.
