Olivia Rodrigo spills on Aussie rite of passage she tried while ‘exploring’ Melbourne
Olivia Rodrigo’s Australian Guts tour kicked off in Melbourne with a bang on Wednesday night, the first of eight Australian shows.
The 20-year-old singer-songwriter took to the stage before a roaring crowd, sharing her excitement about visiting the city and sampling its delights, concert goer Kate Pattison revealed in a series of TikToks.

“I really love this city so much. I’ve been exploring, I’ve been meeting some of you guys, I had a great Australian breakfast, so good.
The iconic Aussie biscuit’s fame has grown internationally, with many visitors indulging in the popular “Tim Tam Slam,” biting the biscuit off at the ends and using it as a straw for a hot beverage.
During the show, part of Rodrigo’s global tour promoting her album Guts, the star delivered an impressive setlist filled with fan-favourite tracks including songs from her debut album Sour — Driver’s Licence, Good 4 You and Happier — and newer songs such as Vampire, Bad Idea Right and Get Him Back.
Rodrigo will perform at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Thursday, Sunday and Monday before performing at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on October 17, 18, 21 and 22.
The tour is Rodrigo’s first run of shows down under, with New Zealand singer Benee joining her as the opening act.
Rodrigo first became known for starring in Disney’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, but shot to fame following the 2021 release of her debut single Driver’s Licence, which topped the US Billboard Hot 100.
She released her first album, Sour, later that year and was named Entertainer of the Year by TIME Magazine. Her second album, Guts, followed in 2023, again topping the charts in the US, Australia and around the globe.
Rodrigo was spotted on the streets of Collingwood in Melbourne ahead of her concerts and was spotted by TikTok user Bianca Camiolo who asked her for advice for an aspiring artist.
“Oh my gosh! Just make stuff every day, keep going until you have good quality,” the US star told Camiolo.
The singer kept it casual in a New York Yankees baseball cap, grey coat, white sweater and black jeans, paired with black Converses.
Fans gushed over the video.
“The most genuine person I ever know, so humble and down to earth,” one fan said.
Another wrote: “You’re so lucky!”
“Oh my GOD, she’s out here somewhere,” another fan added.
