On Monday police confirmed they had located a body, which has not yet been formally identified, but is believed to be Butt.

The discovery was made at a property in Caniambo, a small rural town 34 minutes east of Shepparton.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and police will prepare a report for the coroner,” police said.

Police previously said Butt had no known connections to the Shepparton area so it was unclear why he was there.

He left home without his mobile phone, his medication and had limited food and clothing.
