Motorists are being advised to allow extra time travelling into the city from the west.

That work will last until 5am on September 23 and is to widen the West Gate from eight to 12 lanes.

Vehicle breakdowns

Delays are easing on the Monash Fwy near the South Gippsland Fwy due to a truck breakdown at 6.30am.

Although the inbound lanes have reopened, traffic was congested from Clyde Rd.

Drivers were urged to be patient as delays ease.

Two left lanes were also been closed Greensborough-bound on the M80 Ring Rd between Pascoe Vale Rd and Sydney Rd due to a car breakdown.
