The Foo Fighters have cancelled a show at a US festival after Dave Grohl recently revealed he welcomed a baby outside of his marriage.

The chart-topping band have taken to social media to announce that they will “no longer be appearing” at Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

In a statement posted on Instagram, the band said: “FOO FIGHTERS WILL NO LONGER BE APPEARING AT THIS WEEKEND’S SOUNDSIDE MUSIC FESTIVAL. PLEASE CHECK THE FESTIVAL WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION (sic)“

The Foo Fighters haven’t cited a specific reason for cancelling their planned appearance at the festival.

However, it follows the confession of Grohl earlier this month that he had fathered a child outside of his marriage of 21 years.

The 55-year-old musician vowed to “regain” the trust of his family after sharing the news via social media.

Grohl — who has been married to wife Jordyn Blum since 2003 — wrote on Instagram at the time that he had “recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage”.

“I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her,” he added.

“I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.

“We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”

The Foo Fighters frontman has three daughters — Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10 — with Blum, and Grohl has previously admitted they’ve had a huge influence on him and his songwriting.

Grohl, who was married to Jennifer Youngblood between 1994 and 1997, told TIME magazine in 2012: “It’s changed everything that I do. When you have kids, you see life through different eyes.”

The confession of infiedelity came as a shock to fans of Grohl — long known as the ”nicest guy in rock” — and of the Foo Fighters.

As speculation mounted over the identity of the woman who gave birth to the lovechild, one of Grohl’s ex-girlfriends spoke out about the rockstar.

Fellow musician Jennifer Finch, who dated Grohl in the 1990s, came to her ex’s defence.

She told TMZ Grohl was a top-tier dad and friend, and said she and her ex had remained tight since their split.
