AFL live scores: West Coast Eagles smashed by 101 points against St Kilda

West Coast have made a horror start in their attempt to snap a three-match losing run - and they haven’t been helped by the AFL’s score review system. Follow all the action from Marvel Stadium here!

AFL: West Coast failed to fire a meaningful shot as they were hammered to the tune of 101 points by St Kilda at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

The Eagles entered the match off a string of losses against three genuine premiership contenders in Sydney, Geelong and Fremantle, and the task didn’t get significantly easier against a Saints side that returned to their Marvel Stadium home for just the second time this season.

Recap all the action from our blog below.

MATCH REPORT

It’s an outing to forget for the Eagles, unfortunately they can’t afford to.

Here’s Mitchell Woodcock’s full match report.

The Eagles have been humbled yet again at Marvel Stadium and it’s a result that should wound them deeply.

They really fell apart after that bizarre reveiw but showed almost nothing outside of two five minute patches in the second and third quarters.

Their young guys did nice things but it’s time to wonder where some of the leaders like Duggan and Kelly are at.

Biggest ever

The Saints have now equalled their biggest-ever winning margin against the Eagles of 101 points.

And they still have time to add more.

No mercy

The Saints are treating the end of this game as a training drill.

McQualter looks very flat. These are the games the Eagles had hoped they were beyond but this is the second time this season they have been smashed.

The only real bright spot is Josh Lindsay has reached 30 disposals for the first time in his short career.

Fading fast

The Eagles are looking tired and the Saints are eager for the percentage boost after a poor start to the year.

This could still reach triple figures if McQualter can’t get his side fighting.

The Eagles’ youngsters showed a few signs in the third term but they are struggling to compete in the clearances which means they are constantly on the back foot.

Their entry going forward has also been poor for most of the day.

Lindsay has 26 touches and Duursma 20.

It’s tough to see where the travelling side can get back into this, especially with NAS leading the way for the Saints.

Waterman gets one back after the siren to help his radar which has been off so far this year.

Getting a hold

The Saints are now leading the disposal numbers quite clearly and their 24-18 clearance advantage is having a big say on the game.

It doesn’t help the young Eagles are making mistakes under pressure.

West Coast are even well behind on tackles, contested ball and uncontested ball.

Josh Lindsay is a bright spot though as he continues to match NAS for disposals.

10-2

West Coast are leading the inside 50s for the term and have three goals after Baker sneaks one through.

They have also completly stopped the Saints getting chains out of the back half.

However, the home side have replied with two goals from centre clearance, an area West Coast must start winning if they are any chance to pull of another comeback win.
