There’s been plenty of back and forth but now the deals must get done as the AFL trade period reaches its final day with plenty of names still left on the board.

West Coast copper has plenty of heat over their splitting of pick three to acquire Liam Baker and Matt Owies, can they appease their angry fans with a good trade for Tom Barrass?

Fremantle will hope they can break the deadlock over Shai Bolton and finally acquire a key piece of their premiership puzzle.

Still not much movement

Daylight’s burning but not much is happening yet.

More from Brierty

“We’re on record that we had discussions with Liam’s management and tabled something for him but he expressed a real desire to get to West Coast,” he says.

“Any opportunities to bring someone onto the list a fair bit of work goes into and we appreciate the talent Chad is and he’s a player we will continue to monitor.”

Dockers footy boss Joe Brierty speaks on Bolton

“We are really excited about Shai coming through the door, the talent is undeniable and to have the deal done is really pleasing,” he said on AFL Trade Radio.

“We’ve done a fair bit of work but getting WA players through the door with the likes of Jackson, Sharp and Clark.

“Ultimately we felt like two first-round picks were appropriate.

“We go to the draft with a first-round pick with a little bit of a slide to 14 and bring in a future third round which is a stronger hand for next year whether that’s for a trade we’ll see.

“It’s a really strong draft from a talent point of view, I’m really confident in how it will play out.”

Will settles with Essendon

Will Setterfield has signed a one-year extension to stay at the Bombers.

The 26-year-old midfielder struggled with injury this season but had a strong finish to the season in the VFL.

“I’ve loved my two seasons at the Bombers so far and I can’t wait to get to work over the summer ahead of the 2025 season. We’ve got a great group of driven and determined players and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”

Daniel Rioli is a Sun

Suns will receive picks 51, 61, 70 and 76 and Rioli in exchange for picks 6 and 23.

The Tigers draft hand continues to grow.
