Eddie McGuire’s son Xander leaving Channel 9 to join Channel 7

Eddie McGuire’s son has defected from Channel Nine to Seven in major coup for the network.

Xander McGuire, 22, has worked as reporter for three years at Nine, but will now joining Seven’s sports team for 2025.

He had been a studying in Scotland for the past six months.

There has been speculation his father Eddie would also join the mass exodus of AFL expert talent from Seven to Nine after Kane Cornes, Caroline Wilson and Craig Hutchinson jumped ship.

Eddie McGuire’s production company JAM TV will produce two new shows for Seven and will continue to host Footy Classified on Nine. That show will air on Tuesday not Wednesday nights in 2025.
