Back in the pool

Henry Allan is up in the men’s 100m backstroke but will have to do something special from lane 1.

Another WA star in action

Lekeisha Pergoliti takes on Nigeria’s Blessing Orwakwe in the women’s light middleweight division.

The Bunbury bruiser is ranked third in the world and has had a stellar 12 months.

With no bronze medal bouts in boxing, a win here will secure her a medal.

She’s in trouble early, copping some blows before landing some jabs to fight back to the centre of the ring.

But Orwake wins the first round 4-1. So work to do.

Gold for the Wombats in the 3x3 wheelchair!

They’ve done it as England failed to sink a basket in the final two minutes as they desperately tried for two points to give themselves a chance.

Leard had 10 points.

It’s a back-to-back gold for The Wombats, and after losing to England in their first game in Glasgow, they’ve won by six points here!

Earlier, the women’s team claimed bronze in a fiery encounter against Canada 17-15.

Georgia Munro-Cook, daughter of the red wiggle, starred with 12 points.

WA pair Ebony Stevenson and Taishar Ovens also played their part.

Aussies up in gold medal match

Australia’s men’s 3x3 wheelchair are up against England in the gold medal match.

They currently lead by two points 15-13, but there’s still 2mins to go.

But a defensive foul from England gives Eothen Lead two free throws, and he sinks one and then sinks a massive two pointer to put them up by 5!

Basketball heartbreak

Australia’s bid for an unprecedented golden Commonwealth Games sweep 3x3 basketball is over after suffering a heartbreaking women’s wheelchair semi-final loss.

The Wombat women were Australia’s last 3x3 team to play on early Thursday morning (AEST) and had to down hosts Scotland to join their compatriots in the gold medal matches.

But it wasn’t to be, with a boisterous Scottish crowd helping to power the hosts to a 15-12 win over Australia.

Family affair

Oliver ‘Ollie’ Saxton has lifted his way to a Commonwealth Games bronze and fulfilled his family’s legacy.

Son of five-time Commonwealth Games medallist, Andrew Saxton, the Perth weightlifter added his own hardware to the family trophy cabinet.

The 23-year-old displayed incredible feats of human strength during his debut games, lifting a total of 336kg.

WA’s Ollie Saxton lifts up bronze!

Perth’s Ollie Saxton stunning display of strength has secured him the bronze medal, completing his family legacy.

Thanks to a courageous start with a 156kg snatch, Saxton went on to lift a combined 336kg.

He fills his father’s big shoes, who was a five-time Commonwealth Games medallist for England and Australia.

It was a thrilling finish to the men’s 94kg final, after Saxton and Bellemarre looked to have silver and gold in hand following their lifts.

That was until Malaysia’s Mohamad Syahmi Bin Nor-Ghazali came out and cleared an insane 197kg clean and snatch on his first attempt.

Ollie overtaken

Bellemare has overtake Saxton’s position with a 187kg lift, sitting 10kg clear of the West Aussie.

Ollie will now attempt a staggering 191kg clean and jerk to take his lead back, an ambitious, but necessary, goal to say the least.
