Dolphins dominance no surprise

In no surprise to anyone, Australia’s relay squads comfortbaly topped the final swimming heats of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The men and women 4x100 freestyle relay delivered a pair of heat winning efforts that will set up another two gold medal hopefuls.

‘Tough one to swallow’: Champion Hoare tripped in heats

Olli Hoare said it will be a “tough one to swallow” after he was tripped during the men’s one mile run qualifiers.

Kennedy too smooth

‘Mr Smooth’ Lachlan Kennedy fit the bill of his nickname during the men’s 200m qualifier.

Racing arm in arm with Jevaughn Powell, the Aussie took his foot off the gas coming into the final stretch after making up more than enough ground to appear in the final.

Looking like he didn’t want to over gas himself after a big run the night before.

“(I) probably could of hit it a little hard but was trying to save strength,” he told Channel 7 after the race.

Protest success for Hoare

Reigning champion Ollie Hoare has successful won his bid to defend the gold medal.

The protest was expected to take hours, but it was a quick decision for officials could see Hoare was tripped.

Medal favourite falls

The stacked card delivered in the 200m freestyle, with some big names missing out on the finals.

In a shocking result - reigning 200m gold medallist from the Birmingham Games, Duncan Scott of Scotland, failed to qualify.

Although the Aussies took care of business – with Sam Short, Harrison Turneer and Kai Taylor filling three of the eight available spots.

Second for Scerri

Mia Scerri slipped to a second place finish for the Heptahalon long jump, unable to beat her first attempt of 6.29.

While Tori West’s PB finished inside the top 10.

Hoare hits the deck

Defending champion Oliver Hoare took a fall during the men’s one mile run qualifiers after being pushed by another competitor.

The Australian hit the deck after another racer came up behind, but he has gotten back and turned the jets on to get a finish time.

“That’s a tough one to swallow because it was out of my control,” he said after the race.

Australian officials have protested the result, hoping he will have the opportunity to defend his title.

Cameron Myers topped his heat to redeem the Aussie.

Gangurru’s off to gold medal match

The Aussie men have punched their ticket into the gold medal match with a thrilling 21-14 win over Scotland.

It was a stellar shooting performance for the Gangurru’s, Sam McDaniel starred with 10 points while veteran West Aussie Jesse Wagstaff had four points.

Strong track start

Monique Hanlon let Gross enjoy the fastest heat time for a few minutes before taking it with her 23.12 second run.

The Aussie pair secure finals spots with Australia starting strong in on the track.

Swimming action starts

In the pool Tara Kinder starts off Australia’s efforts for the Games’ final day of swimming.

She raced neck and neck with Scotland’s Angharad Evans and both competitors picked up the pace in the final 50m, as the Scotswoman held on to win.

Kinder and Ella Ramsay both finished well enough to qualify for the final.
