Key Events
Pant hit again!
Starc goes short and Pant totally misjudges going to duck then turning into the ball as it smashes into his grill and onto the shoulder.
Physio called out straight away as Starc checks on him but he seems ok as we take a drinks break.
Torrid 15 minutes for the Indian keeper.
Pant in trouble
Starc replaces Cummins and he gets one to climb as it strikes Pant on the bicep.
He’s in some discomfort and there’s a massive bruise that’s come up already.
He’s getting some strapping and ice, he’ll be ok to continue but that will be hurting.
Smith drops a sitter
Jadeja drives hard away from the body and it flies to Smith at second slip and it comes too quickly for him as he’s struck on the stomach and it goes down.
It came fast but given the calibre of catches he’s taken in the past that should have been taken.
Pant’s gone wild
4 down for less than 80 on a seaming deck?
Pant decides to charge Pat Cummins and slap him down the ground but instead gets a bottom edge but luckily spins away from the stumps.
It’s not what India need right now.
GONE BOLAND GETS KOHLI THIS TIME
No doubt about this one as Virat again fiddles with one outside off and it’s Beau Webster diving across to take a good catch. His second one of the day.
It’s a dismissal we’ve seen so many times this series and Kohli just couldn’t help fend at one as Boland strikes again.
Boland settling in
He has figures of 8-1-9, just landing on a good length and letting the ball do its thing.
He’s beaten Pant’s inside edge several times but it’s a touch too short to be trapped LBW and he almost chopped on onto his stumps.
Kohli drops and runs on the off-side as he continues to build.
Close call
Boland nips one back into Rishabh Pant as they go up for LBW.
The umpire shakes his head and there’s no review. Perhaps there was a thin inside edge and it umpires call on clipping leg stump.
We’re back
Scott Boland to take the ball after lunch.
Kohli on strike with Pant the new batter at the non-strikers, can he reign in his natural game in tough conditions?
Lunch time reading
67 Test matches, 12 hundreds with an average of 40.6 and a highest score of 212, these are the numbers of a champion but Rohit Sharma is set for a low-key farewell.
LUNCH IND 3/57
A fantastic session for Australia the controversial Kohli call notwithstanding.
They kept things tight removing both openers cheaply and then just as India steadied a moment of madness saw Gill depart and leave them needing to start all over again after lunch.
