After a dramatic Boxing Day Test Australia are in the box seat to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but India have made a huge call as they look to flip the script in Sydney.

Follow all the action live.

That’s it for day one

An enthraling day of Test cricket with Australia ahead but by no means in control as Jaspirt Bumrah looks to tear out Aussie hearts again.

We’ll be back from 7am tomorrow

More on the final over drama

Indian superstar Jasprit Bumrah and teenage sensation Sam Konstas have had a heated verbal confrontation in a spicy final over of day one at the SCG.

Match report

Here’s the day one report from wires

What a day of cricket

“It has been an amazing day of cricket. Even though India haven’t scored many runs, it feels like something could have happened every single ball. Because of that, we are used to seeing and judging a day’s play by the number of runs scored the boundaries hit. There have been few of those, and yet it’s been enthralling all day,” Justin Langer says on Channel 7.

STUMPS AUS 1/9

Well well well.

What a day of Test cricket and there’s plenty of feeling out there. Perhaps not wise of Konstas to wind Bumrah up and it was a great ball to get Khawaja.

Australia’s day overall but India will walk off pleased with that wicket and if they can get on a roll they know Australia could be bundled out cheaply.

Konstas will be there and you can expect plenty of words tomorrow.

Khawaja falls off the last ball of the day

Konstas goes for a wild swing first ball and is lucky not to edge it.

He defends the next then gets off strike with a sharp single into the legside.

Bumrah comes in but Khawaja pulls away and the Indian captain is not happy.

Konstas pipes up and now Bumrah is having words with the teenager and it’s suddenly very hot at the SCG.

GONE. Khawaja falls off the last ball of the day!

On middle and KL Rahul takes a good catch at second slip as Khawaja squares himself up by staying rooted to the crease. India’s celebrate but make sure to get in Konstas’ face as they both walk off he gets the bigger send-off despite the fact he’s the not out batter.

Australia 1/9.

Siraj from the other end

There’s almost a mix-up as Khawaja calls yes then no but Konstas gets back and they get one as the throw ricochets off the stumps.

Konstas is on his toes and working a single to square leg.

SNORTER. Pitches on middle and jags away and Khawaja does extremely well not to edge behind.

Swings down the legside and Khawaja misses the flick as he almost tickles it to the keeper.

AUS 0/8

Right here we go

No surprises Bumrah with ball in hand Konstas races out to face the first ball.

FOUR. WOW! Konstas advances down and just whips Bumrah over mid-wicket to the boundary off the first ball.

Advances again and the inside edge goes down to fine leg for a single.

OUCH! This one bounces and catches Khawaja on the glove as his hand is jammed.

Physio is out again today as they look at his index finger, he looks sore.

He’s to continue and works a single through backward square to get off the mark.

India all out for 185

That’s not what they would’ve wanted when they won the toss and chose to bat.

Pant and Jadeja’s partnership was the only real resistance of note before Bumrah pushed the total up with some big swings.

Australia’s bowlers were excellent with Boland’s 4/31 the pick with three for Cummins two for Starc and one to Lyon.

Still they looked at one stage like they could be rolled for 150 and now Australia have a horrible 15 minutes to try and survive Bumrah on this spicy deck.

Don’t go anywhere.

Six and out for Bumrah!

SIX! Cummins goes with the slower ball but Bumrah picks it and launches him over the mid-wicket rope.

OUT! Goes short and Bumrah top edges this where Starc completes a comfortable catch.
