Cricket: The Ashes pink-ball Test is here - and Australia are looking to take a stranglehold on the series.

All eyes are on Aussie skipper Pat Cummins in Brisbane, while WA’s Josh Inglis will be looking to impress as he gets set for a recall to the line-up in place of the injured Usman Khawaja.

As for England, the tourists have plenty of questions to answer after being destroyed inside two days in the series opener in Perth. Can the likes of Ben Stokes and Joe Root respond in the day-night format?

Stay across the latest from the Gabba here, with the toss of the coin at 11.30am (WA time) and the day’s play to begin 30 minutes later.

9th Over: ENG 2-43

In the air again from Crawley, but the drive lands well safe of any fielder as he picks up two.

FOUR BYES. Short and Crawley goes to pull, but the ball balloons off the pitch to go over everyone to the rope.

SHOT. Best of the morning as Crawley drives straight down the ground for four.

Gets a leading edge for one to finish the over.

8th Over: ENG 2-31

Scott Boland replaces a slightly wayward Neser. He was poor in the first innings in Perth before turning the match around in the second.

Nice one to start as Root defends back down the pitch.

Some good bounce as Root plays one out to point. Squirts a single off the inside edge to fine leg.

Craweley pushes a single into the off-side

7th Over: ENG 2-30

In the air! But safe as Crawley goes for a loose drive outside off that flies over point for two.

Play and miss. Starc throws the tempter full and wide, and Crawley plays over the top of it.

Dots to finish.

Crawley has already moved to 24 despite some loose strokes in an innings that has been a microcosm of the Bazball method.

6th Over: ENG 2-28

Neser is yet to quite find his line as he’s too straight again to Crawley who whips two.

Crawley gets three more with the same shot in what looks like a lightning outfield.

CLOSE AGAIN. Neser sneaks one past Root’s defensive prod but it goes off his back leg and drops down.

5th Over: ENG 2-23

Crawley gets off strike with a push past mid-off.

Starc is steaming into Root, but he’s showing better judgment after that early reprieve.

Just one from it

4th Over: ENG 2-22

FOUR. Freebie from Neser as he gets too straight and Crawley whips four to square leg.

Nearly cut in half next ball by one that decks in.

FOUR MORE. Overpitched and pinged through the covers.

APPEAL. There’s a shout from behind, but Neser doesn’t look overly convinced snicko shows maybe the tiniest of murmurs.

Would have been huge controversy if that was given.

Root gets a life!

Too straight from Starc, and he tucks two into the legside.

WOW! Root goes for a big drive and is so so lucky to not edge that as it shapes away.

EDGED BUT DROPPED. Starc almost gets Root again as he edges behind but it dies on the way through to Labuschagne.

Smith dives across and gets fingers too it but it goes down four four.

STARC HAS TWO!

BOWLED HIM!!!!

Horror shot by Ollie Pope as he goes to cut one too close to the body, and he under edges one straight onto his stumps.

Disastrous start for England and it’s Joe Root time

2nd Over: ENG 1-5

Neser takes the new ball from the other end.

He’s channelling the fifth stump line, which Crawley is happy to leave.

He finds some shape into Crawley as he defends.

CLOSE. Hangs it wider and Crawley fiddles at it to almost edge to Carey.

STARC DOES IT AGAIN!

Mitchell Starc with the new pink ball with Zak Crawley on strike after his pair in Perth.

He leaves the first one outside off as it bounces steeply.

BEATEN. Shapes past the outside edge on its way to Carey.

AGAIN. Slightly fuller and just misses the edge.

RUNS! Four as he nails the cover drive to score his first runs of the Ashes.

Straighter this time as he works a single into the legside.

OUT! STARC DOES IT AGAIN! For the third time in a row he gets a wicket in the first over.

It’s angled into Duckett and straightens after pitching to take the edge and is pouched by Labuschagne.

WHAT A BOWLER.
