Cricket: The Ashes pink-ball Test is here - and Australia are looking to take a stranglehold on the series.

All eyes are on Aussie skipper Pat Cummins in Brisbane, while WA’s Josh Inglis will be looking to impress as he gets set for a recall to the line-up in place of the injured Usman Khawaja.

As for England, the tourists have plenty of questions to answer after being destroyed inside two days in the series opener in Perth. Can the likes of Ben Stokes and Joe Root respond in the day-night format?

Stay across the latest from the Gabba here, with the toss of the coin at 11.30am (WA time) and the day’s play to begin 30 minutes later.

Chris Robinson is reporting live.

An early look at the pitch

Here’s what the deck looks like as we’re now less than an hour out from 11.30am’s toss & team announcement!

Meanwhile, at the MCG...

Mitch Marsh was unable to press his case for a Test call-up, mustering just 9 for WA.

Marsh didn’t open, instead batting at No.3, but was inserted into the action in the fifth over.

However, after cracking two pull-shout boundaries, he failed to kick on. See the wrap here.

Weather update

We’re set for ripping conditions in Brisbane. Sunny across the first three days of the Test with forecast tops of 28, 29 and 30C respectively, before some clouds on Sunday’s Day 4 - if we get that far.

Of the 24 pink-ball Tests played worldwide, there’s been 0 draws, so don’t expect that result this week. There’s every chance we see a repeat of the can’t-look-away quickfire action that we witnessed across two days in Perth!

Langer’s say

Pat Cummins? Nathan Lyon? Both? Or neither?

Former Aussie coach Justin Langer knows these players well, and he’s had his say on what he thinks the Aussies should do at the selection table.

Lyon’s spot is in question due to being left out of Australia’s side for their most recent pink-ball Test in the West Indies earlier this year. The spinner bowled just two overs in Perth in the opening Ashes Test.

Welcome

Hello and welcome to our coverage of the Second Test as the battle for The Ashes resumes!

We’re just two hours away from the toss and teams being comfirmed, but there’s every chance we’ll learn of Australia’s selection movements before then.

The big watch is Pat Cummins, with the skipper considered an increasingly likely chance to earn a recall despite currently not being listed in the Aussie squad for this match. Cummins has recovered from his back injury and is firmly in the mix to return, further clouding what the home nation’s attack will look like.

We’ll keep you posted on any hints or indications as players begin to take to the Gabba turf for warm-ups across the morning ahead of the 12pm (WA time) start of play.
