Cricket: The Ashes pink-ball Test is here - and Australia are looking to take a stranglehold on the series.

All eyes are on Aussie skipper Pat Cummins in Brisbane, while WA’s Josh Inglis will be looking to impress as he gets set for a recall to the line-up in place of the injured Usman Khawaja.

As for England, the tourists have plenty of questions to answer after being destroyed inside two days in the series opener in Perth. Can the likes of Ben Stokes and Joe Root respond in the day-night format?

Stay across the latest from the Gabba here, with the toss of the coin at 11.30am (WA time) and the day’s play to begin 30 minutes later.

ENGLAND 2-98 at Tea

Mitchell Starc did Starc things to remove Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope in his first two overs but it’s been all England since then.

Steve Smith dropped an extremely tough chance and Scott Boland missed a caught and bowled but it’s been largely chanceless from Joe Root and ZaK Crawley.

Crawley has moved to 61 while Root has ticked along to 32.

Balls not doing a lot and Australia have not settled on a consistent line.

Could be a long second session if they don’t breakthourh early while England fans will be beaming

Last over before tea

Green continues still bowling the fuller length.

England have scored at just 3.1 from the last 10 but also have looked without issue.

SHOT. Too full, and Crawley pings another drive straight down the ground.

Last ball of the first session.

Full but driven to the fielder and that’s tea

50 for Zak Crawley

Starc continues as Root cuts one into the ground.

A single brings Crawley on strike. He knocks a single into the legside and that’s 50 off 68 balls.

A pair in Perth and under all sorts of pressure, but he’s responded well with some big drives and work off his pads.

20th Over: ENG 2-84

Cam Green is into the attack. He barely bowled in Perth but did pick up the key wicket of Ollie Pope in the first innings.

He goes searching for the yorker but is worked away for a single so he goes short as Crawley sways out of the way.

FOUR. Pitches up and Crawley moves to 49 with another whip through the legside, where Doggett makes a meal of it as they both slide into the rope.

19th Over: ENG 2-79

Starc returns. Can he conjure more magic to break this partnership?

He gets it in good areas but these two are set and see him off with a couple singles

Tough Chance

Crawley smacks a drive in the end back to Boland at a catchable height, but it goes straight through his hands for four.

Got his hands in an awkward spot but it came back at him fast.

England building nicely

Things have steadied a touch after the drinks break with Dogget and Boland both producing half shouts.

Joe Root dances down and pings four straight down the ground and looks in good touch.

There’s still a bit of movement on offer, but it’s a much easier pitch than Perth. Seems like the right time to bring Nathan Lyon on to try something different,

If only they picked him of course....

Nathan Lyon won’t play in Brisbane.

12th Over: ENG 2/58

Boland returns, having swung around to the other end.

Crawley drops a single, this pair rotating the strike well.

Root flicks away a couple off the pads.

SHOT! Another lovely drive straight down the ground, but from Root this time as Boland overpitches.

Brings up the 50 partnership going at nearly a run a ball and that’s drinks.

50 up for England

Doggett replaces Starc.

Root punches three past the point.

Crawley brings up the team 50 with another nice drive through the covers.

This partnership is 46 off 8 overs after England were 2-5

10th Over: ENG 2-45

Root walks down and bunts a single into the offside.

BEATEN. Crawley hangs the bat out as another one whizzes past the edge.

HUGE APPEAL. But no review as Crawley walks down and almost edges one.

Carey looked keen but Smith opts against a review. Good call as it came off the pad.
