Cricket: Day 1 in Adelaide had no shortage of talking points - so what will Day 2 bring?

Australia resume at 8-326, but it could have been a better position for England had a DRS error not gone against them to help Alex Carey notch a ton.

The tourists will be looking to wrap up two quick wickets and then bat for a long chunk of time - in forecast 37C heat - to put the pressure back on the home side.

Relive the day in our blog below!

Root survives by the skin of his teeth!

Inside edge on the pads but not given as Cummins reviews!

Root’s smashed it but there’s contention over whether it carried to Carey.

This looks tight side-o looks clean but the zoom suggests it may have bounced.

Not-out says the third umpire huge moment in this match.

It’s a tough call but hard to overturn given the evidence. Australia also lose a review which seems wrong.

LYON’S ON FIRE!

That’s a special delivery from Lyon!

On a good length and turns to beat the edge and take the top of the off-stump.

The absolute dream dismissal for a spinner.

Stunning delivery from Lyon and Australia are on fire!

The GOAT does it again!

Here he is, Nathan Lyon replaces Cummins.

The man under the most heat after Brisbane.

Gets a freebie first up as he strays on the pads, allowing a two to fine leg and gets a single.

WICKET Crawley ct Carey b Cummins 9

Inglis is back on the field which is good.

Crawley nails a drive straight to cover then smashes the flick to mid-wicket.

OUT! Magnificent from the captain!

Gets it back of a good length and it nibbles away to graze the edge to Carey.

Fantastic delivery just when Australia needed it! Captain Pat is back!

7th Over - ENG 0-36

Carey dives well to stop a ball off the pads.

Crawley drives straight down the ground, doesn’t get all of it but picks up three.

SHOT! Starc goes full and Duckett pings it off off-stump through mid-wicket for four.

Short and punched to point for two. Runs flowing

Concerns for Inglis?

He grabbed his shoulder after that misfield, which he hurt in the last match, diving for a catch at cover.

He’s gone off the field to get it looked at. It’s not what you need when your spot is in question.

6th Over - ENG 0-28

A misfield from Inglis gets Duckett a single.

Crawley has been starved on the strike for most of the morning so far and is watchful to Cummins.

He pushes a single to mid-on.

5th Over - ENG 0-26

Duckett flicks one off the pads as Crawley chops down a single past point.

Short and Duckett finds the gap to point for one.

Beaten! Starc gets one to move away past Crawley’s defence.

Too straight and Crawley gets two off the pads
