Montag gets her hands on the medal
It may have come 24 hours late, but Jemima Montag finally got to celebrate her bronze medal-walk in front of a jam-packed crowd at the Stade de France.
Montag had to wait for the track and field events to officially start before enjoying her medal ceremony.
Aussie doubles pair into gold medal match
Veterans Matt Ebden and John Peers have outplayed American singles stars Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul to guarantee at least a men’s doubles silver for Australia at the Olympic tennis tournament.
FOX STARS IN NEW EVENT
Australia’s queen of the canoe Jess Fox has set the second quickest time down the rapids in the women’s kayak cross seeding.
Already a dual gold medallist at these Games, Fox stamped her authority with a superb performance and looks primed to add another medallion to her collection.
Her sister Noemie Fox finished eighth, more than two seconds slower.
PUP’S STRONG RUN
The younger sister of Austrlian golden girl Jess Fox has raced down the rapids of the Olympics’ newest canoe discipline, kayak cross.
Noemie Fox set the fifth fastest time in the seeding round with nine paddlers left, including her sister.
CANADA V SPAIN
Moments away from tip-off between Canada and Spain in the men’s basketball, the Boomers desperately need Canada to win if they’re to progress through to the next round.
Morris ready and waiting
Grae Morris must wait another day to chase an elusive gold medal after the windsurfing finals were called off today due to a lack of wind.
Speaking to Channel 9 after the event was postponed, a cool and calm Morris siad he is ready to race whenever called upon.
“I’m not nervous, I’m super prepared mentally to race,” he told Channel 9.
“I think tomorrow is a great oppotunity and it will be awesome for people to watch.
“Anything can happen, we may race we may not, if they think its too flat - let’s do it let’s push it.”
Min Woo gets the kitchen firing
After an all-time stinker on day one Min Woo Lee shot a six-under 65 to rocket up the leaderboard to put himself in touching distance of the top 10 sitting at one under after the second round.
“Just a bit more of a curse management chat with the team and to pay on the safer side today.”
“I hit some good putts and didn’t give up and had a good one today.”
“It’s a good start and hopefully I can get two more of those rounds and we’ll see what happens.”
FROM THE CLOUDS
Min Woo Lee has put together one of the strongest showings on the second day on the greens, shooting -6 over his 18 holes to rise 23 spots to be -1 after both rounds and tie for equal 36th.
Jason Day is -5 with one hole to go after scpring -3 on the day so far.
ICYMI
Aussie rowing pair Jess Morrison and WA’s Annabelle McIntyre secured a bronze medal this afternoon in the women’s pairs.
Wearn leads the way
Defending men’s dinghy gold medallist Matt Wearn, who hails from WA, leads all comers after the first four races.
Wearn finished second in the opening race today before going one better in the next, storming to the top of the leaderboard.
Races five and six of the 10-race group stage will take place tomorrow.
