Simone narrowly avoids fall in uneven bars
A disgruntled Simone Biles walked away from her uneven bar routine visibly annoyed with her efforts after an awkward transition between the bars.
Biles miraculously caught herself in mid-air and somehow avoided a fall but was penalised for the maneuver and scored the same as Australia’s Ruby Pass, 13.733.

Australia’s Ruby Pass was awarded the fourth highest score of the first rotaton on the uneven bars.
Her routine was worthy of 13.733, just 0.1 less than the top score from Japan’s Rina Kishi.
Biles flips to massive score
To rapturous applause from the jam-packed crowd, American gymnastics superstar Simone Biles stuck a triple somersault backflip on the vault to score an equally jaw-dropping score of 15.766.
Tim all smiles after seventh-placed finish
“Yeah it feels really good to be in the final on Olympic debut,” he tells Nine.
“I put down a run that I was proud of.”
“I had some nice advice from Jes (fox) the other day to just take a moment and drink it in.
It was a storming run and if not for a pentaly would have had him in fourth.
Timmy out of K1 medal race
For a breif moment, Tim Anderson was on the podium but the nervous wait did not last long with Switzerland’s Martin Dougoud producing the third quickest attempt of the K1 final.
With six paddlers yet to head down the rapids, Anderson sits fourth.
Anderson drops to third
A near faultless run from Italy’s Giovanni De Gennaro has knocked Aussie medal hope Tim Anderson down to third place.
The Italian now sits at the top of the K1 final standings and is the provisional gold medallist.
Anderson finishes strongly in K1 final
It wasn’t the gold medal run we were hoping, but it was a fast finish and resilient effort from Australia’s K1 finalist Timothy Anderson.
After an early penalty, Anderson regathered himself and powered home to the finish with the second quickest time.
Still eight competitors to head down the rapids - a nervous wait ahead.

Carlos Alacaraz through to semis
Former world No.1 and rising Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz is through to the semis after defeating American Tommy Paul in straight sets.
Paul put up a brave fight to force a second set tie-breaker, but Alcaraz proved too strong in the end emerging victorious 6-3, 7-6 (9-7).
Dominant duo take the win
Mariafe del Solar and Taliqua Clancy have dominated Canada to advance through to the beach volleyball knockout stages of the Olympics.
Buoyed by nine aces, the Aussie pair clinched the crucial victory 21-10, 21-16.
